I transitioned into the world of landscape and bird photography and eventually found myself using my camera in a professional setting. During the period from 2019 to 2021, I honed my time behind the lens while serving as the Digital Marketing Manager at Lovingston-based Virginia Distillery Co. This role allowed me to refine my craft in a professional capacity as the in-house photographer.

The Birth of Foxhaven Photography. In 2020, Foxhaven Photography sprang to life from my desire to assist family and friends who owned short-term rental properties in the area. I launched a website and portfolio, and my mission has remained clear since: to deliver top-quality photos as a friendly and dependable professional.

A Local Perspective. As a resident of central Virginia, an ardent outdoor enthusiast, and a mandolin player in a bluegrass band in Charlottesville, I've cultivated a deep admiration for Virginia's Blue Ridge Mountains, its rich culture, and the vibrant communities within. This deep-rooted passion infuses every photoshoot I undertake, ensuring that each image captures the essence of our beloved region.

The Tools of the Trade. I am committed to delivering excellence in every picture taken, and to achieve this, I employ professional-grade equipment. My trusted gear includes Nikon cameras and Nikon and Tamron photography lenses, with the Nikon Z8 and Nikon D850 serving as my primary camera bodies. For real estate photography, my lens of choice is the Tamron SP 15-30mm F/2.8 Di VC USD G2, closely followed by the Tamron SP 24-70mm F2.8 Di VC USD G2. This meticulous selection of gear ensures that every image I capture is of the utmost quality. Additionally, I utilize the DJI Mavic 3 Pro as my unmanned aircraft system (drone) of choice, enhancing the visual possibilities of each photoshoot from the air.

When I’m Not Working. When I don’t have a camera in my hand, I usually have a pair of running shoes on my feet or a mandolin in my hand (I play in a bluegrass band here in Charlottesville). Occasionally you’ll find me working on a side project called What's This Cloud, a resource that’s aimed at making it easy for everyday individuals to learn about cloud identification and classification. I’m a proud Ramblin’ Wreck from Georgia Tech, graduating from the Scheller College of Business with a BS in Business Administration in 2006.
